Smart Manufacturing Week 2025 brought together a wide range of ideas and technologies shaping the future of manufacturing and engineering in the UK. For CD Automation, it was an opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals and demonstrate how our power control solutions can help improve efficiency and support sustainability goals.

From the start, our stand attracted steady interest from engineers, manufacturing & process specialists, and automation experts. Many were looking for practical ways to reduce energy consumption, minimize downtime, and optimize production processes.

Our discussions covered applications in industries such as heat treatment, glass manufacturing, and precision control for high-speed production. These conversations highlighted how adaptable our solutions can be across different environments.

The second day allowed for more detailed technical exchanges. Live demonstrations and Q&A sessions focused on:

• Upgrading existing systems
• Integrating fieldbus communication
• Transitioning from mechanical contactors to solid-state relays and thyristor power controllers

A recurring theme was how to balance operational efficiency with long-term goals like net-zero targets and Industry 4.0 readiness.

With over 12,500 visitors, 450 exhibitors, and 200 speakers, the event provided a clear snapshot of where the industry is heading. Sustainability and carbon reduction were key priorities for many attendees.

For our part, we focused on showing how modernizing power control systems can help companies cut energy use, improve reliability, and prepare for future demands.
